How SSS contributions work in 2026
All employed and self-employed Filipinos are required to contribute to the Social Security System (SSS). The contribution rate is 14% of your Monthly Salary Credit (MSC), split between employer (9.5%) and employee (4.5%). For voluntary and self-employed members, you pay the full 14%.
The minimum MSC is ₱4,000 and the maximum is ₱30,000 as of 2026. Your actual contribution depends on which salary bracket you fall into. The SSS uses a bracket system where your salary is rounded to the nearest Monthly Salary Credit.
Who needs to pay SSS?
- Employed workers (mandatory, shared with employer)
- Self-employed and freelancers (mandatory if earning ₱1,000+/month)
- Voluntary members (OFWs, separated employees)
- Kasambahay / household workers
